Summary and Response Reflection

Summary and Response Reflection

The summary of the response pushed me to read two children’s novels, Love by Matthew De La Pena and You Matter by Christian Robinson. I have not read a children’s book in a very long time. Picking up these two books has taken me to a place I have not been since my childhood. My favorite scene, most heartbreaking, is when the parents were arguing, and the kid was hiding under the table. It was hard transcribing that scene into the analytic language without being emotional. I sent described the scene as even when you love someone, sometimes you aren’t great for each other. I had dived into psychology and discussed the effects of emotional abuse and the everlasting scars over childhood. But in the response to the book, I further iterated the importance of seeing the many forms in which love can form. Love doesn’t have to be perfect, but it’s yours. Also, both Matt De Lena and Christian Robinson were very diverse in their drawings and writing, making everyone feel included. When reading both books, I found that very important because diversity shows kids that they matter. I wanted to find research that highlighted that because as a kid of color, I wish I saw more diversity growing up, it would have made me feel more confident. I learned how much the impact of our childhood has on development. How your raised has so much to do with your behavior.

I was nervous writing this paper because I was scared my analysis was not strong enough, I thought I could have done better, and I probably could have. It was tricky getting the psychology right, but I learned how much the impact of our childhood has on development. How your raised has so much to do with your behavior. The summary and response was a short assignment, but it was able to open me up to the world of children’s books. I was inspired to buy a few children’s books from my childhood, The Miraculous like Adventures of Edward Tulane. The response allowed me to immerse myself in a world I had once forgotten. I read my favorite stories with new eyes.
